Following the news that Prince Harry will be attending the Coronation of his father King Charles III without his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, the couple enjoyed an all American date night in LA. On Monday night Harry and Markle took their seats to watch the LA Lakers play the Memphis Grizzlies, where Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner were also in the stands.
Meghan Markle was dressed like a true California girl in a pink linen shorts suit by LA-based fashion brand Staud made up of an oversized blazer with matching high-waisted shorts, paired with a simple white T-shirt and gold jewelry. It’s a casual look compared to the more formal outfits she wore in her London days, but she still stayed loyal to the ultimate in Duchess-approved footwear – the classic suede pumps.
Nude pumps in particular have always been an integral part of the Princess of Wales’s royal wardrobe, a story that started with her beloved LK Bennett nude patent Sledge heels, which her early years defined as a Duchess. It’s a styling move that Meghan also adopted when she joined the household, finishing many of her formal outfits with a pair of oatmeal-hued suede Gianvito Rossi court shoes. Instead of pairing her linen shorts with sandals or trainers as you might expect, she used heeled stiletto pumps to add some extra polish.
Prince Harry’s date night look was also more Montecito than Kensington: a crew-neck white T-shirt worn with a blazer and jeans. They may have been hoping to fly under the radar in the comfort of their box, but a canny cameraman unsurprisingly singled out the Sussexes with the “kiss cam”, which beamed their faces onto the big screen. Though they obliged with a smile and a relaxed wave, they skipped the PDA.
