‘This show is always fun and beautiful and has been a staple of Askennonia’s fundraising since 1992,’ the executive director says
It’s a sure sign of spring.
Askennonia Senior Center is hosting its annual fashion show May 16, beginning at 1:30 pm in the community hall at the North Simcoe Sports and Rec Centre.
Judy Contin, the Midland-based organization’s executive director, said show director Kimberly Dusome has started meeting with 20 models who will display the latest arrivals for spring and summer.
“This show is always fun and beautiful and has been a staple of Askennonia’s fundraising since 1992,” Contin tells MidlandToday.
“Askennonia members will model a colorful, casual set, followed by a slightly classier selection, culminating in the more formal designs suitable for a summer gala or wedding.”
Continuation says audience members will be seated comfortably at tables, which will also be done to reflect the season and occasion. There will also be light refreshments served at intervals along with a bar to sip on wine or beer while checking out the latest fashions.
“This year, we’ll feature styles from Shirley’s Boutique and Norman’s Garden Center lilies,” Contin said.
“There are plenty of other value-added surprises being added to the day. Shirley from Shirley’s Boutique will talk about trends in fashion, colors and fabrics and we’ll have door prizes and draws.”
Members and their guests are welcome to purchase a ticket before the show at the Askennonia reception. Members pay $15 and guests are $20 each.
Continue also thanked sponsors Bajic Denture Clinic, Chartwell Tiffin Retirement Residence, Nichols Funeral Home and Carson Funeral Home for helping to keep the show affordable.
