Kate Winslet and her daughter wear coordinating looks on the BAFTA red carpet

Last night’s BAFTA TV Awards provided plenty of chic celebrity red-carpet fashion, and, among the famous faces descending on London’s Royal Festival Hall were Kate Winslet and her daughter, Mia Threapleton, who wore sweetly co-ordinating ensembles.

The pair dressed in matching monochrome dresses; Kate wore an asymmetric black dress with black court heels, while her daughter opted for a halterneck jumpsuit with a nude waist detail. The mother-and-daughter duo styled their hair in similarly relaxed messy buns, paired with statement earrings.

The pair were celebrating their drama series I Am Ruth, with Winslet winning her first BAFTA TV accolade for a leading actress at last night’s awards. The TV show tells the story of a mother watching her teenage daughter suffer the consequences of spending too much time online; Winslet stars alongside her real-life 22-year-old daughter in the Channel 4 series, so she dedicated last night’s win to her.

“I am guaranteed to be the only one of the night to cry,” Winslet said on stage. “If I could cut this in half, I would give the other half to my daughter. We did this together, kiddo.”

She continued: “I Am Ruth was made for parents and their children – for families who feel that they are being held hostage by the perils of the online world, for parents who wish they could communicate with their teenagers but who are no longer able, and for young people who have become addicted to social media and its darker sides.”

Winslet shares her daughter with film director Jim Threapleton – they were married from 1998 until 2001 and had Mia in 2000. It seems their daughter is destined for acting stardom of her own.
